Step 12. Place 2 inches apart on a prepared baking sheet or in a greased 8 x 8-inch pan. Bake until deep golden brown, about 15 minutes, rotating pan once halfway through baking.
Step 13. Cool on rack and glaze immediately, or place in an airtight container and freeze for up to 1 month. To assemble bread:
Step 14. Using a sharp serrated knife, cut the top and bottom off of the bread; discard. Cut down the middle of each piece of bread lengthwise to form a long loaf; discard.
